The Organ

The original piped organ was a operated by foot-pedals. This organ was dedicated to Mrs Makin of Beckfield Farm, Fairburn and can still be seen in Gillamoor Church near Kirkby Moorside

The current organ was built by Wood and Wordsworth of Leeds. At the time there was, in ecclesiastical terms, a rather strange event that occured when the Diocesan Council for Church Buildings objected to organ. The Diocesan Chancellor held a Consistory Court in the church and St James's Church was allowed to have its organ.
